Trip itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City

Arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel..

Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

 Day 2: HCMC – Cu Chi Tunnels – City Tour –  Saigon Street food tour/Dinner Cruise (B/L/D)

08:00 – You will be picked from your hotel and travel out of Ho Chi Minh City to visit the famous Vietcong tunnels at Cu Chi. The incredible system of tunnels, covering nearly 250km, was shelter to over 16,000 communist guerrillas during the American war. You will gain an insight into the tenacity of the soldiers and have the opportunity to go inside the tunnels.

Lunch will be in HCMC and after you have enjoyed your meal you begin your guided HCM City tour

You will visit many interesting and famous places including, Ben Thanh Market, War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace,Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Notre Dame Cathedral was built between 1877 and 1883, and the stones used to create it were exported in its entirety from France. The Central Post Office, finished in 1891 is another fine example of French architecture and is Vietnam’s largest post office.

16:30 – Return to your hotel and overnight stay at the Hotel.

19:00 – Transport will arrive at your hotel to transfer you to your 90 minute evening dinner cruise on the Saigon River. Your cruise boat has an on board kitchen and bar and you can sit back and enjoy views of the old town while enjoying a set menu of local delights.

 Day 3:HCMC – Mekong Day Tour (B/L)

06:30 – 07:00 Early start, your driver will meet you at the hotel and you will begin your drive to Cai Be.

On arriving at Cai Be you will board a private boat for a cruise through the busy Cai Be floating market. You will also visit a local house boat & chat with the family to learn a little of their daily life.

Next you will visit some local cottage industries such as the coconut candy workshop, learn how to make pop-rice and watch the process of how rice paper is made.

Back on the boat you will continue your cruise through the maze of canals to An Binh Island, where you will leave the boat visit an ancient house. There you will have the opportunity to taste fresh locally grown tropical fruits and enjoy lunch with local cuisines.

After lunch, take a short trip on a local sampan rowed by locals before getting back on board the motor boat to the Nursery Garden and a little further to visit the Brick & pottery kiln before arriving in Vinh Long town.

 Day 4: HCMC –Da Nang – Hoi An (B)

07:00 – Our driver will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the HCMC airport where you will board your 0900h flight to Da Nang.

10:00 – Arrive in Da Nang where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Hoi An for check in and a short rest.

13:10 – Your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and take you on a two hour walking tour of Hoi An Old Town. Famous for its quant mixture of Chinese, Japanese and European architecture, the old town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. You will visit, the Japanese bridge built in the 16th century and famous for being the only covered bridge known to incorporate a Buddhist pagoda, the 200 year old Tan Ky house, museum of trade ceramics and several other historical sites.

 Day 5: Hoi An – My Son  (B/L)

My Son was the major site in Vietnam for the ancient Champa Kingdom which flourished

between the 4th and 13th centuries. Descendants of the Champa civilisation still live along the coast of Vietnam though they are now fully integrated into Vietnamese society. My Son served as a religious and intellectual centre where Champa kings were crowned and buried. In 1999 it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site.

08:00 – Start your group tour from your hotel and travel 50km from Hoi An to My Son Holy Land by air conditioned Bus with your English speaking guide.

On arrival at My Son you will proceed to the main area to view the ruins and learn more about the Cham Civilization.

After exploring the ruins of My Son and attending a traditional Cham Peoples music concert, you travel a short distance by road to meet your boat for the journey back to Hoi An.

On the way back to Hoi An, you will be served a light snack on the boat and stop for a visit at a pottery village and the woodcraft village.

14:30 – Arrive back to the ferry station in Hoi An.

 Day 6:Hoi An Free day (B)

Enjoy a relaxing day at the beach or walking in the vibrant streets of Hoi An Old town.

 Day 7: Hoi An– Hue Via Hai Van Pass – Hue City Tour (B/L)

08:30 – Your English speaking guide & driver will pick you up at your hotel and you will start your journey to Hue. First you will travel along the coast road and drive through the busy city of Da Nang before traveling to the top of Hai Van Pass.

The pass which once formed the boundary between the kingdoms of Dai Viet and Champa, also forms a boundary between the climates of northern and southern Vietnam, sheltering the city of Da Nang from the winds that blow in from the northwest.

After stopping to take some spectacular photos, your driver will take you slowly down the winding road toward Lang Co Beach on the way to Hue.

Lang Co Beach is an attractive narrow peninsular with a stretch of white sand and palm trees, with a deep blue lagoon on one side and 10 kms of beach front on the other.

12:30 – You will arrive in Hue and be taken to your hotel.

After you have checked in and had a rest, you can take a pleasant walk through the streets around your hotel.

13:30 – Your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the magnificent Imperial Citadel.

Built in the 19th Century and surrounded by high stone walls and a moat, the Citadel was once the exclusive home of the Nguyen Imperial Family. It is similar in design to the famous Forbidden City in Beijing and is not to be missed.

Next is time for boat ride on the  Perfume River and depending on time, visit Tu Duc and Bao Dai tombs.

Tu Duc Tomb is one of the most beautifully designed tombs of the Nguyen dynasty. Embedded in a lush pine forest, the tomb is the final resting place of Emperor Tu Duc (1848-83) who had the longest reign of all emperors of the Nguyen dynasty.

Khai Dinh become the Emperor of Vietnam in 1916 but unfortunately his close relationship with the French made him unpopular with the Vietnamese people and he branded nothing more than a paid employee of the French government. However, his tomb is a remarkable structure which began construction in 1920 but was not finished until approximately 5 years after his death. Although the tomb is smaller than most, it is an elaborate design combining a number of different architectural styles and includes walls formed by the largest dragon sculptures in Vietnam. The tomb also features intricately designed glass and a ceiling decorated with 9 detailed dragons.

17:30 – Return to your hotel.

Overnight stay in Hue.

 Day 8: Hue – Hanoi – Street Food Tour (B/D)

08:20 – Our driver will meet you and transfer you to the Hue airport where you will board the 1010h flight to Hanoi.

11:20 – Arrive in Hanoi and you will meet with our driver who will take you to your hotel in the famous old quarter area of Hanoi.

After checking into your hotel you can spend some time exploring the fascinating streets of the old quarter.

Are your taste buds ready for an adventure? Join with your English speaking guide who will take you to local places to sample some of the famous Vietnamese   street food and through the markets where the locals buy their groceries.

18:00 – Transport will arrive at your hotel and take you to the tour start point. Take a short walk to Cho Hom market off Pho Hue street, passing some tempting food stands on the way. Explore Cho Hom market, one of the biggest markets in Hanoi with its colorful arrays of fruit and vegetables, sweets, meats and elaborate temple offerings.

Dinner will be provided along the way before you return to your hotel or continue to explore the old quarter of Hanoi.

 Day 9: Hanoi City Tour- Water Pupper show (B/L)

08:00 – Guide will meet you at your hotel & you will depart to visit:

Ho Chi Minh Complex: Completed in 1975 the complex contains Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, his former stilt house residence, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh museum.

Next stop is a visit to the Temple of Literature: Originally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam’s first university dating back to 1070. Inside are the stone steles used for ceremonies and mounted on the backs of turtles and inscribed with the names of the university’s graduates.

12:00 – A delicious set menu lunch will be provided for you in a local restaurant.

1300h – Your tour recommences with a visit to the Museum of Ethnology which is widely acknowledged as the best in Vietnam and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic minority peoples.

Then it is on to the Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake: The Ngoc Son temple is set on a tiny island on the Hoan Kiem Lake and was erected in 18th century. The temple is reached by crossing the Huc Bridge which literally means “Place Touched by Morning Sunbeams”. Hoan Kiem Lake is a focal point of the city and the source of many legends including the legend of the returned sword which dates back to the 15th century and refers to a magical sword used to free Vietnam from Chinese rule.

The Old Quarter, also known as the 36 streets, is a bustling area of narrow streets home to literally thousands of small businesses and street vendors, selling a wide variety of goods. Originally each of the 36 streets names’ were related to the products being sold there. Hence you can walk from Fish Street to Tin Street to Bamboo Street and you will enjoy exploring the area while riding in a traditional cyclo.

17:00 – Back to your hotel

18:30 :Pick up the water pupet show from the hotel

Overnight stay in Hanoi

Day 10 :Ha Noi – Ha Long Bay (B/L/D)

08:00 to 08:30 – You will be picked from your hotel and start your scenic 3.5 hr drive through the Red River Delta and passing by many small villages on the way to Ha Long Bay.

You will stop for a short comfort break at the Humanity center situated approximately half way on to the bay. There you can purchase souvenirs from a vast selection items, enjoy a drink or simply stretch your legs.

12:30 – On arrival in Ha Long, your guide will complete all the required paperwork for you and show you to the shuttle boat for your short trip to the cruise boat.

13:00 – After checking in and short cruise briefing, you will be served a delicious lunch in the dining room while you enjoy the passing scenery of the bay.

15:30 –You will have the opportunity to Kayak around the Bo Nau Cave area which has a 5 – 7m wide arch shaped entry. The cave covers an area of approximately 200 sq metres and standing at the entry gives visitors a unique view of the bay as if from the mouth of a monstrous beast.

16:30 – Time to return to your cruise boat and take a short trip to SoiSimIsland where you can go swimming in the calm waters, lay on the beach or climb to the top of the hills on the island to enjoy a panoramic view of Ha Long Bay.

17:30 – Return to the main boat where you can refresh or watch the sunset before dinner.

19:00 – A delicious dinner will be served in the dining room and after you have finished your meal, you can relaxing and share stories with other guests while you enjoy a drink from the bar. For the adventurous, you can try your hand at squid fishing from the rear of the boat.

 Day 11:Ha Long Bay – Hanoi(B/L)

06:30 – If you put your name down the night before, you can join the early morning Tai Chi class on the sun deck or simply take advantage of the amazing photo opportunities presented by watching the sun rise.

07:30 – Enjoy a nice breakfast in the dining room while you watch the scenery of the bay slide past the windows as you cruise toward towards Bo Hon Island

08:30 – You will visit the truly amazing Sung Sot Cave which is also known as Surprise Cave. The cave is reached by climbing approximately 100 stone steps and the journey up allows some excellent views of the bay below.

09:30 – Return to your cruise boat and time to freshen up before checking out of your cabin.

While slowly cruising back toward the port, you will pass by Ba Hang fishing village, Dog Islet and many more of the wonderful formations found only on Ha Long Bay. You will also be given a short Vietnamese cooking demonstration before being served lunch on board.

12:00 – 12:30 – Arrive to the harbour and begin your journey back to Hanoi.

17:00 – Arrive to your hotel in Hanoi.

Overnight stay in Hanoi

 Day 12: Ha Noi departure(B)

Your time will be your own until your private car and driver arrives to take you to Ha Noi airport for your departure flight.
