Trip itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ha Noi (D)

Our driver will meet you in Ha Noi and transfer you to your hotel in the old quarter of Hanoi. After check in you will have free time to take a rest or start exploring the area around the hotel and take a walk around the famous Hoan Kiem Lake. Overnight stay in Hanoi.

Day 2: Ha Noi City tour (B,L)

08:00: Guide will meet you at your hotel & you will depart to visit: Ho Chi Minh Complex: Completed in 1975 the complex contains Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, his former stilt house residence, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh museum. Next stop is a visit to the Temple of Literature: Originally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam’s first university dating back to 1070. Inside are the stone steles used for ceremonies and mounted on the backs of turtles and inscribed with the names of the university’s graduates. The complex is divided into five courtyards which originally would have been reserved for the Emperor and his mandarins. One of the courtyards contains the statue of Confucius guarded by two beautiful bronze storks standing on turtles. The temple highlights the importance Vietnamese society has placed on education.

12:00: A delicious set menu lunch will be provided for you in a local restaurant.

13:00: Your tour recommences with a visit to the Museum of Ethnology which is widely acknowledged as the best in Vietnam and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic minority peoples. Then it is on to the Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake: The Ngoc Son temple is set on a tiny island on the Hoan Kiem Lake and was erected in 18th century. The temple is reached by crossing the Huc Bridge which literally means “Place Touched by Morning Sunbeams”. Hoan Kiem Lake is a focal point of the city and the source of many legends including the legend of the returned sword which dates back to the 15th century and refers to a magical sword used to free Vietnam from Chinese rule. The Old Quarter, also known as the 36 streets, is a bustling area of narrow streets home to literally thousands of small businesses and street vendors, selling a wide variety of goods. Originally each of the 36 streets names’ were related to the products being sold there. Hence you can walk from Fish Street to Tin Street to Bamboo Street and you will enjoy exploring the area while riding in a traditional cyclo.

Day 3: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay (B/ L/D)

07:45-08:30: Check out of the hotel and your transport will arrive and you will depart for |Ha Long Bay. You will stop for a short break at the Humanity center situated approximately half way on to the bay and enjoy local specialties.

12:00: Arrive in Ha Long Bay and transfer by tender to your luxury Junk where the captain will welcome you on board the boat. A delicious lunch will be served for you as the boat passes through many of the thousands of islands and islets within Ha Long Bay.

15.30: You will have the opportunity to explore what is commonly thought to be the biggest and most amazing cave in Halong Bay, the Surprise Cave.

17:00: Kayaking for an hour around the fishing village and observe the daily life of the local community there. Then back to boat for Sunset Party.

19:30: Enjoy a dinner of local or western food and spend a romantic night on board the Junk.

Day 4: Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Island (B/L/D)

07:30: Enjoy your breakfast while complimentary tea and coffee is served. After breakfast the boat will stop at Van Gia fishing village for you to take photos. Then after a short trip on the smaller day boat to Viet Hai harbor, you will ride 30 minutes by bicycle to Viet Hai village, which is part of Cat ba National Park. Once you have taken a short break it will on to get a brief look into the lifestyle of the local villagers.

13:00: Lunch is served on day boat while cruising to Monkey Island to observe the monkeys and weather permitting, you will have the opportunity to go swimming.

15:30: Arrive in Cat Ba Island and check into your hotel and enjoy some free time before dinner.

19:00: Dinner will be provided in the hotel and after you will have more free time to explore Cat Ba town in the evening. Overnight in Hotel on Cat Ba Island.

Day 5: Cat Ba – Ha Noi – Water Puppet Theatre

06:30: Your new day will start with joining the Taichi class or simply enjoying the scenery. Breakfast is at the hotel before you board the shuttle bus to Cai Beo harbour where you will meet the day boat and cruise back to the Junk.

10.00: Visit Ba Hang Fishing Village to experience the lifestyle of local people. After returning to the boat, it will be time to join the cooking class in the on board restaurant and enjoy what you have cooked for lunch.

12.00: Disembark and transfer back to Hanoi.

17:00: Arrive in Hanoi and check back into the Hotel. After you have had a rest, you can choose a time to go to a performance at the Water Puppet Theatre.

Day 6: Ha Noi – Da Nang – Hoi An (B)

In the morning our driver will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to the airport in Hanoi to board a flight to Da Nang On arrival to Da Nang airport, a driver will meet you and transfer you to Hoi An in a private air conditioned vehicle. On the way to Hoi An, you will stop at the Marble Mountains and Non Nuoc village where you will be able to ride the new twin glass elevators to the main area on the mountain for a visit before continuing onto Hoi An.

1600h: Your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and take you on a two hour walking tour of Hoi An Old Town. Famous for its quant mixture of Chinese, Japanese and European architecture, the old town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. You will visit, the Japanese bridge built in the 16th century and famous for being the only covered bridge known to incorporate a Buddhist pagoda, the 200 year old Tan Ky house, museum of trade ceramics and several other historical sites.

Day 7: My Son – Dinner Cruise (B/L)

08:30: Start from your hotel and travel 50km from Hoi An to My Son holy land in a private air conditioned vehicle with your English speaking guide. My Son was a major religious site for the people of the ancient Champa Kingdom which flourished between the 4th and 13th centuries The Champa people ruled Central Vietnam until it was finally annexed by the Vietnamese in the 19th Century. The Champa King lived in the political capital of Tra Kieu (whose commercial capital was the port of Hoi An) and so the My Son complex became the most important temples of the Champa Kingdom. Bricks were used to build the temples without the aid of mortar and sculptures of gods, priests, animals, and scenes of mythical battles adorned the walls. The temples were places of worship to the Hindu God Vishnu. My Son was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. After exploring the ruins and history of My Son and viewing a short traditional Champa Peoples music concert, you will start your journey back to Hoi An arriving at approximately 1230h. The afternoon is yours to relax or try on the new clothes you have had made. 1845h – Transport will arrive at your hotel to transfer you to your 90 minute evening dinner cruise on the Thu Bon River. Your cruise boat has an onboard kitchen and bar and you can sit back and enjoy views of the old town while enjoying a set menu of local delights.

Day 8: Hoi An – Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Free time until our drive meets you to transfer you to Da Nang airport to board your morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

14:30: After check in there will be time for a short rest until your English speaking guide will meets you at the hotel. You will depart on a private tour to explore and discover what Saigon has to offer. Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), formerly known as Saigon, is the largest and busiest city in Vietnam with a population of 7 million people. You will visit many interesting and famous places including, Ben Thanh Market, War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Notre Dame Cathedral was built between 1877 and 1883, and the stones used to create it were exported in its entirety from France. The Central Post Office, finished in 1891 is another fine example of French architecture and is Vietnam’s largest post office.

Day 9: Mekong Delta Day Tour (B – L)

07:00: Your day begins with pick-up at your hotel and a short transfer of only a few minutes to board a speed boat for a 1 hour 30 minute boat ride to the Mekong Delta. During the ride, we will have a light breakfast and you will see many interesting sights that your personal tour guide will be able to explain. The first 20 minutes of your trip by speedboat is an urban city tour through the widest section of Saigon which would normally take more than 1 hour by car or bus. After the urban area of Saigon there is then a dramatic transition to scenic lush green canals that are typical in the Mekong Delta region. Once you arrive in the Mekong Delta you will begin your excursion, visiting a local riverside market, an authentic village with colonial architecture, a local pagoda, various workshops, and narrow lush jungle canals. Customers receive a truly unique experience and stay well off the beaten path. After a morning of exploring, you will enjoy a traditional Vietnamese meal for lunch in a local pagoda. The chef will travel with you from Saigon to ensure your lunch is prepared and served at a very high standard. Vegetarian options and other special requests can be arranged but please give advance notice.

13:00: Journey back to Saigon begins and you will arrive between at approximately 14:30. .

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City Departure (B)

Free time until your private car and driver takes you to Tan Son Nhat airport for your departure flight. (Return flight to Hanoi available at extra cost)

Hotel 3 stars. 4 nad 5 star hotel upgrade are available on request.
